The DFI office is a 45,000sqft 3-storey building located in Edmonton, Alberta. It is designed to appear light and translucent in presence with three major volumes of glass that appear to be submerging into one another.
The building also consists of an atrium that brings natural light to the heart of the building allowing the users to have the benefits of having access to natural light. Our design challenge was to ensure building code compliance by installing fast response sprinkler heads and smoke draft stops.
Additionally, the building utilizes a steel structure with long-span joists and a minimal number of columns making it ideal for open office environments that require flexibility to changing office layouts. A pedway connects the building to the manufacturing plant in the back.
Completed in 2014.
